Thank you for visiting this page — I’m guessing you're curious to know more about me and the workshops I run!
I’ve been painting professionally for over 15 years, and teaching for nearly seven. What began with online classes soon expanded into in-person workshops across the UK, the US, Italy, Spain, and eventually into immersive retreats I now host in places like Sicily, France, London — and the list keeps growing.
The more I paint and teach, the more I’ve come to believe that becoming a better artist is not necessarily about technique, style, subject matter, or materials. For me, it’s about three key elements: awareness, intention, and confidence.
Awareness — of technique, visual language, rules, and ways of interpreting the world.
Intention — the opposite of randomness: the ability to choose, adapt, and pursue a method that resonates with you.
And finally, confidence — which grows through continued practice and deepening awareness of yourself and your work.
This is the heart of what I teach. When you attend one of my workshops or retreats, you won’t just leave with new techniques — you’ll leave with greater clarity on what you already know, what you need to explore further, and above all, the confidence that you can evolve as an artist — in your own unique way.
Scroll down to explore a gallery of photos and testimonials from past events — full of colour, connection, and creativity. These workshops have become international gatherings of kindred spirits, coming together from all over the world to connect with themselves, their art, and each other in a safe, joyful, and inspiring environment.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to welcome you to one of my upcoming workshops or retreats!

Seeing Beyond -
Creative Portrait Masterclass
LONDON, Tue Nov. 18 - Fri Nov. 21, 2025
A 4-day deep dive into the emotional and painterly dimensions of realist portraiture
This masterclass invites you to move beyond surface observation—you’ll learn how to move past photographic copying and start seeing with an artist’s eye: bold, intuitive, and deeply expressive.
As artists, we often face two core challenges: how to begin a painting—and how to push it further. This workshop is designed to guide you through both. We’ll start by building a grounded, realistic portrait using classical structure and light logic, then open it up into painterly expression through layered mark-making, intuitive decisions, and mixed media.
You’ll experiment with tools like texture, gold leaf, and other creative interventions that help you break rules with purpose—and bring raw, luminous energy into your work.
You’ll leave with more than just a finished painting: you’ll walk away with sharper eyes, bolder instincts, and a renewed connection to your artistic voice.
Workshop Schedule
Day 1 – Realism vs Abstract
On the first day, we explore both the realms of realism and abstraction.
We begin with creative warm-up exercises to ease into the workshop—playing with texture, bold mark-making, mixed media, and gold leaf. In the afternoon, we’ll shift focus to the classical foundations of realist portraiture, including essential elements like basic head anatomy, proportions, and structural understanding.
We’ll look at how to source reference for our work, as well as ways to plan the process ahead, from sketching to completion.
Day 2 – Building the Portrait: Composition, Color & Technique
On Day 2, we begin translating our sketches and studies into larger-scale works. After reviewing key principles of composition and assessing the preparatory work from Day 1, we’ll move into the first stages of painting our portraits or figures.
I’ll demonstrate different ways to organize your palette for mixing realistic and expressive skin tones, and we’ll take time to review several portrait painting approaches, including:
Direct method (alla prima)
Wet-on-wet
Indirect method with glazing
This day is all about exploration—trying out different techniques to understand how each one affects the mood, texture, and impact of your final painting. You’ll gain clarity on how each method feels to work with and which aligns best with your personal vision.
Day 3 – Pushing your Portrait Further !
A full day dedicated to refining and developing and pushing your portrait further.
We’ll keep working on the portraits started the day before, focusing on how to move beyond the initial layers and into deeper territory. This means confronting not just technical challenges, but also inner blocks—whether it’s fear of failure or uncertainty about what to do next.
Together, we’ll work through those limits. I’ll be by your side to offer guidance, honest critique, and practical tools to help you assess your work and make clear, confident decisions about how to bring it to the next level.
Day 4 – Final Touches & Integration
On our final day, we’ll continue developing and resolving your painting(s), with focused attention on:
Integrating the figure with the background
Refining color balance, contrast, and edge control
Adding final expressive details and personal touches
You’ll receive individual critique and tailored advice to help you move forward independently—both with the current piece and your practice beyond the workshop.
We'll close the day with a supportive group discussion and exhibit of the work, sharing what we’ve learned and celebrating the growth that’s happened—on the canvas and within.

LONDON BOOTCAMP
November 10th to 15th, 2025
Structure + Freedom: The Advanced Portrait Bootcamp!
SOLD OUT
This 5-day bootcamp is an intensive deep dive for experienced artists and returning students who want to take bold leaps in their portrait practice. We work from photographic references — but this isn’t about staying safe or tight.
We’ll talk about the balance between intuition and structure—why understanding proportions, color relationships, and pre-mixing skin tones helps you create expressive work with intention. This is not about rules, but using knowledge as a springboard for your boldest, most personal art. I will demo my very personal approach — not to be copied, but to inspire your own. And each evening we regroup to review challenges, answer questions, and fine-tune our goals for the next day.
This bootcamp is not about perfection.
It’s about building confidence, growing your voice, and making art that excites you again.
The boot camp consists of a total of 5 + 1 days with inspiring APERITIF EVENING SESSIONS , consisting of:
🖌️ 4 Days of Intensive Studio Painting
Hands-on sessions designed to challenge and expand your practice in a structured, inspiring studio setting. Expect to experiment with mixed media, dive deeper into color theory and color mixing, and push your figurative work to the next level. You can work from your own reference or from the dedicated course reference I provide.
🖼️ 1 Day of Museum Study & Sketching
We’ll spend time at some of London’s iconic museums (options include the National Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Tate Britain, British Museum, or Wallace Collection), studying and sketching from masterworks.
🌆 Optional Sightseeing on Saturday (with the newly made artist friends!!)
We’ll wrap up the boot camp with a relaxed, optional day of art-filled exploration—wandering through Mayfair’s world-class contemporary galleries and discovering the bold, edgy creativity of East London’s art scene, all while soaking in the vibrant energy of the city, its people, and its hidden corners.
